Edmonton Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner was struggling Monday night against the Buffalo Sabres, having allowed four goals on 27 shots. But his rough outing became fodder for ridicule when former Sabres player Rob Ray , now a television analyst, took a jab at him during the broadcast.

The Oilers were down 4-1 late in the third period, and head coach Kris Knoblauch decided to pull Skinner from the net and add an extra attacker in an attempt to mount a comeback. Ray, a color analyst for the team, made a joke at Skinner’s expense once he was off the ice, describing his rough night.

“There’s an empty net for Edmonton,” Sabres play-by-play announcer Dan Dunleavy said before a faceoff.

“Yeah, it has been for most of the night, so what’s the difference,” Ray replied.
