FAIRFIELD, Calif. —
A heated debate is unfolding in Fairfield as the city council prepares to vote Tuesday night on the proposed Vista Ridge Supportive Housing Project.
It would convert an aging hotel into permanent housing for people transitioning out of homelessness. The project, located at 3331 North Texas St., would transform the existing SureStay Hotel and its 100 guest rooms into 50 one-bedroom supportive housing units.
The developer has applied for state grant funding through Project Homekey, estimating the cost at $26 million. The City of Fairfield has committed $1.5 million toward the effort.
