Martin Scorsese is a filmmaker who’s been active since the 1960s, with 1967 being the year his first movie, Who’s That Knocking at My Door , came out, with his most recent film, at the time of writing, being 2023’s Killers of the Flower Moon . That latter film is one of his most serious and downbeat, being about a real-life series of crimes that played out on a massive scale and over numerous years, and was fittingly free of comedic relief. But Scorsese has made a few dramas before that have their funnier moments, exemplified perhaps best of all by Goodfellas , which is a mob movie that’s got quite a lot of violence, death, and tension throughout, but it’s also darkly funny at times.
