Mangaluru/Udupi, Nov 19: In connection with a case involving tax evasion during the registration of a luxury car, Lokayukta officials on Tuesday conducted file verification at the RTO offices in Mangaluru and Udupi.
It was found that a BMW car had been registered at the Udupi RTO office by significantly reducing the tax amount, resulting in an estimated loss of around Rs 85 lac to the government. A case has already been registered in this regard. Since certain procedures related to the vehicle’s registration had also taken place at the Mangaluru RTO office, Lokayukta officials inspected files at both locations.
