Every veteran and military family forms part of a living legacy of service – an unbroken chain of courage and sacrifice that strongly defines the nation’s character. Their devotion extends beyond the battlefield, having been sustained quietly through decades of separation, uncertainty and endurance.

As such, this November, Americans join together to commemorate Veterans Day as well as National Veterans and Military Families Month to reaffirm the country’s gratitude to those who have served. However, in states like Indiana, where military significance has been rooted as early as the 1780s, this also means addressing the unfinished work of protecting veterans and their families from the long-term dangers of toxic contamination – an issue that continues to threaten their well-being.
