FORT WORTH, Texas — The Fort Worth ISD Board of Trustees passed a vote Tuesday night to appeal the TEA's decision to appoint a conservator and Board of Managers to run the district.

TEA Commissioner Mike Morath upheld his original decision for a state-appointed board on Nov. 6 after a meeting with Fort Worth ISD board members in Austin.

Tuesday night, the FWISD board voted 7-1 to overturn Morath's decision. The sole dissenting vote was Trustee Kevin Lynch, and Tobi Jackson was not present to vote. Since the motion passed, the board will file a petition with the State Office of Administrative Hearings on the TEA's takeover.
