The Lahore High Court in Pakistan on Tuesday directed the police to stop “harassing" 48-year-old Sarabjeet Kaur, the Indian Sikh woman who embraced Islam and married a local man she had been acquainted with on social media for nearly a decade.

Kaur had travelled to Pakistan earlier this month as part of a group of around 2,000 Sikh pilgrims who entered through the Wagah border to participate in events marking Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary.

While the pilgrims returned to India on November 13, Kaur was reported missing.

According to a senior Lahore police official, Kaur married Nasir Hussain of Sheikhupura district, about 50 km from Lahore, on November 4, a day after her arrival in Pakistan.
