LeBron James made history.
Making his regular season debut on Tuesday, Nov. 18, James became the first player in NBA history to play 23 seasons, breaking the tie he held with Hall of Fame guard Vince Carter. The Los Angeles Lakers, however, were caught in an unexpected battle with the Utah Jazz, eventually pulling away for a 140-126 win.
Utah pushed the pace and exploded on offense in the first half, dropping 71 before intermission. The Lakers, on the other hand, were trying to assimilate James into the rhythm of the offense. Los Angeles rebounded in the second half, scoring 73 points after halftime to surge past the Jazz.
James had been dealing with a sciatica nerve issue on his right side, missing all of training camp and the first 14 games of the season.
