Melbourne: An Indian-origin woman who was eight months pregnant has died, along with her unborn child, after being struck by a car in Sydney, Australia.
Samanvitha Dhareshwar, 33, was walking with her husband and their three-year-old son along George Street in Hornsby shortly after 8 pm on Friday when a Kia vehicle slowed at the entrance of a car park to let the family pass. Moments later, the Kia was rear-ended by a BMW, causing it to surge forward and hit Dhareshwar, police told 7News.
Emergency services treated Samanvitha at the scene before she was rushed to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition, but she and her unborn baby later died, authorities said.
She worked as an IT systems analyst for Alsco Uniforms, according to her LinkedIn profile.
