West Coast have added another crown jewel to their growing collection of talent, selecting Willem Duursma with the first pick of the 2025 AFL draft.
It came as the Eagles snapped up versatile key-position gun Cooper Duff-Tytler with their second selection - Pick 4 overall - in an expected 1-2 punch at the top of the draft.
Duursma — from Foster, a town of just over 2000 people in Victoria’s Gippsland region — was the first player to have his name called by AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon at Marvel Stadium on Wednesday, having long been linked to the Eagles.
Remarkably, he has become the fourth sibling from his family to break through to the top level, joining brothers Xavier (Essendon) and Zane (North Melbourne) and sister Yasmin (Carlton).
