In an era when Americans’ faith in Congress and political parties are near record lows, most people want leaders who put country ahead of party.

Last week, U.S. Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, both Democrats from Nevada, did exactly that. In the face of a noisy online pile-on from the left, they voted to end a damaging government shutdown that had gone on longer than any other in our nation’s history and instead focus on the hard work of governing. As Nevadans and as their constituents, we believe they made the right call and we are grateful for it.
