This year, the holidays come with an added burden of food insecurity for many Americans.

The hundreds of thousands who rely on the federal Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) in South Carolina have seen those benefits held up in a tangle of political volleying. For many, daily meals are hard to come by, and for others, holiday meals would be nonexistent without the community's help .

This year, some want to help. Local non-profits, individuals, church groups, and restaurants are stepping up to provide food for those in need this Thanksgiving, and in so doing, foster deeper connection among us all.

Many organizations are also seeking donations, so if you are able, please consider giving.
