BENGALURU: The Karnataka government has issued an urgent advisory for Sabarimala pilgrims in the wake of the spread of amoebic meningoencephalitis in Kerala. Devotees have been advised to use a nose clip or keep their noses tightly closed while bathing in stagnant water or ponds.
The circular issued by the Karnataka government warns against swimming or bathing in contaminated water bodies and instructs people to seek medical attention immediately if they experience symptoms of amoebic meningoencephalitis.
Additionally, the Karnataka State Travel Owners' Association has requested tax concessions for vehicles carrying Ayyappa devotees from Karnataka to Kerala. The association has written to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar seeking special tax exemption
