Dehradun : Starting in December, the Uttarakhand government will begin collecting green cess from vehicles coming from outside states. This step is being taken to reduce pollution and manage the heavy traffic entering the state, especially in places like Haridwar, which is a major gateway for the Char Dham Yatra.
The green cess will be collected only through FASTags. If a vehicle’s FASTag does not have enough balance, the driver may receive a challan. To make the process smooth, the Transport Department has installed automated number plate recognition (NPR) cameras at key border points like Bhagwanpur, Narsan, and Chidiyapur in Haridwar.
