Kasaragod: In an incident reported on Tuesday from Bollai near Bekur in the district, an elderly woman and her daughter were injured grievously as a jeep parked on a steep road moved backwards and hit them.

The injured women, Jayanthi Bhandary (74) and her daughter Sumalatha Shetty (47), are being treated at a hospital in Mangaluru.

The jeep, owned by a non-government organization, reportedly entered the front yard of the women’s house as it came down the road. It was also found to have toppled into a neighbouring farm after it hit Jayanthi and Sumalatha.

Eye-witnesses have said that the jeep was empty at the time of the accident.
