The Detroit City Council on Nov. 18 upheld the interim suspension of Detroit-based demolition contractor Gayanga Co., which prevents the company from working with the city or receiving contract bids after investigators said they found the company used contaminated dirt to backfill residential properties.
Gayanga's attorney, Adam Clements, of Perkins Law Group, attempted to appeal the suspension, claiming that the company used backfill dirt from public and city-approved sources, and alluded to the Office of the Inspector General abusing its discretion by suspending them without providing specifics of their allegations or
