Chrysler has issued a safety recall for two of its most popular Jeep models due to a risk of engine failure and fire.
Around 112,850 vehicles are affected by the recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration .
Documents filed with the highway safety agency stated that a manufacturing error could cause the engines in certain Jeep hybrid vehicles to fail.
According to the recall, certain engines could be contaminated with sand from the casting process.
Sand, or any debris, inside the engine could lead to engine failure and the risk of a fire, according to the recall.
Affected vehicles include 2023-2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE and 2024-2025 Jeep Wrangler 4XE.
