Hatsingimari: The ongoing agitation by contractual employees of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department continued in Hatsingimari as workers in South Salmara –Mankachar joined the statewide sit-in protest that began on November 11. Similar demonstrations are being held in every district across Assam, with employees pushing for long-pending demands that they say have been ignored for years.

A large number of contractual workers from different panchayats of the district gathered in front of the District Council office, holding placards and raising their voices for fair treatment. They said the government has repeatedly overlooked their concerns, leaving them with no choice but to protest peacefully and democratically.
