A teacher who took his own life had been sacked for making a joke on a school trip , according to reports. ‌

John Wright, 54, was found dead in what police described as 'not suspicious' circumstances at an address in Marlborough, Wiltshire on November 3. As reported by the Mirror , an inquest at Swindon and Wiltshire Coroner’s Court opened on November 7, with a full probe due to take place at a later date. ‌

Mr Wright had taught physics at the £61,000-a-year Marlborough College for 10 years before being dismissed over the summer because of "inappropriate conduct", reports said. It is alleged that this was relating to a joke he had made during an exchange trip to the school's sister college in Malaysia, including a side trip to Singapore. ‌
