The cost to prepare this year’s Thanksgiving dinner will be slightly less than in 2024, largely due to stores keeping turkey prices low, according to a farmers' organization.

The American Farm Bureau Federation said the average cost of Thanksgiving staples that make for a classic holiday spread to feed 10 people will be $55.18, or about $5.52 per person. That’s 5% less than last year, the organization said.

It’s the third straight year of declines since the record-high cost of $64.05 in 2022, said the farmers and ranchers lobbying group. This is the 40th year for the dinner survey.
