The Trump administration has cancelled multiple new citizen naturalization ceremonies in upstate New York, leaving hundreds of people who qualify for citizenship stuck as non-citizen residents at the last minute with their status now in question.
The hopefuls have been legal U.S. residents for over ten years and have completed all necessary paperwork and paid all necessary fees to become full citizens. All that remains is for them to take the oath of citizenship, which they were prevented from doing. It is unclear when that oath will now take place.
