The blue light emitted from screens has already been credited for sleeping issues, disrupting the circadian rhythm during the human body's natural 24-hour cycle that controls when a person feels awake or sleepy by producing hormones like melatonin, cortisol and multiple other bodily functions, and the artificial light is now being linked to numerous other issues beyond eye strain. Poor sleep at night from disrupted circadian rhythms can also lead to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes as they regulate how the body responds to insulin and produces glucose, according to a recent study from the National Library of Medicine .
