A daylight assault on a woman in Bengaluru’s Kodigehalli area has been captured on CCTV, prompting police action against five people. The victim, identified as Chitrakala, was allegedly attacked by her neighbour Pavan Kumar, who is constructing a building next to her house, after she objected to workers drilling into her compound wall.

The CCTV footage shows Pavan abusing her, dragging her by the hair, pushing her to the ground and assaulting her with kicks and a rod. His mother Padmavathi, wife Bhaghya and father Rajendra also joined the assault, according to the FIR. The family allegedly threatened to throw acid on her during the attack.

The Kodigehalli police have registered an FIR against Pavan Kumar, Padmavathi, Bhaghya, Rajendra and another accused, Monica.
