Millions of federal housing dollars to support the homeless could vanish from the Valley, state and regional officials cautioned.
If that happens, nearly 1,400 permanent supportive housing units are imperiled , according to U.S. Rep. Greg Stanton. Those units are typically provided to the people who are most vulnerable to becoming homeless.
His warning comes on the heels of new guidelines from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, or HUD, which is restricting the amount of grant money organizations can use toward permanent supportive housing programs.
