The farewell tour for Afton native Jessie Diggins will soon begin.
The 34-year-old cross country skier announced via social media on Wednesday morning that the 2025-26 season will be her last as a competitor. She will go down as the most decorated cross country skier in the history of the United States.
“It’s going to be hard to step away from this sports and team that I love so much,” Diggins wrote in a post on Instagram. “It also feels right in my heart, and I’m so excited to open a new chapter in my life!”
After bursting onto the scene as a teenager at Stillwater Area High School, Diggins became most famously known for winning a gold medal in the team sprint alongside her childhood idol Kikkan Randall at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
