Michigan and U.S. flags will remain at half staff until after the funeral service for former Vice President Dick Cheney , which is set to take place in the nation's capital on Thursday, Nov. 20.
The controversial former American businessman and politician died Nov. 3 of complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease, his family said. He was 84.
Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1941, Cheney grew up in Wyoming, where he served as a lawmaker and later retired. During his first two terms as vice president under George W. Bush, Cheney was a frequent visitor to Michigan.
