A man has been ordered to pay more than £9,000 after fly tipping in Cambridgeshire . The 56-year-old denied dumping rubbish just off the Caxton Bypass, but could not give a valid reason for his waste ending up 50 miles from his North London home.
The waste included a Christmas tree, broken furniture, children's toys and bin bags. Environmental Crime Officers used evidence from the site to track down the culprit, who failed to attend the court hearing at Willesden Magistrates’ Court in London.
The case was heard in his absence and he was found guilty, leaving him with a £9,005 bill: comprising a £5,000 fine, a victim surcharge of £2,000 and full costs of £2,005.
