Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan Bates announced that he will seek a second term in 2026 as the city’s top prosecutor.
Bates spoke on “C4 and Bryan Nehman” Wednesday morning. When asked if he was running for reelection, Bates said he loves the job and there is more work to be done.
“We still have some more work to do. I really love this job a great deal, and I work for some phenomenal people. I have a number of people that came back to the office, and I owe it to them, but I also owe it to the people that put me in this position,” Bates said. “But I do think right now we’re doing good work. ”
Bates, a former defense attorney, was elected in 2022 after defeating incumbent Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby and attorney Thiru Vignarajah.
