A survey conducted last week by the polling firm Cygnal shows U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville leading former Sen. Doug Jones by a wide margin in the 2026 governor’s race.
Tuberville is seeking the Republican nomination.
Jones, a Democrat, has not announced that he will run but has hinted that he was considering it.
The survey of 605 likely general election voters showed 53% of respondents favored Tuberville to 34% for Jones, with 13% undecided.
The survey had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.96%.
A race between Tuberville and Jones would be a rematch of the U.S. Senate race in 2020.
Tuberville, in his first run for public office, defeated Jones, who was the incumbent, by a margin of 60% to 40%.
