NORTH PROVIDENCE – It’s been a very long time since the North Providence High football team battled back from a three-touchdown deficit at halftime to pull out a thrilling victory, but that’s what the Cougars did in a non-league contest against Cranston East last Saturday afternoon at Serio Field.
Down by a 28-7 score, the Cougars stepped up on both sides of the ball in the final two quarters to force overtime, and in the extra session, they shook off a touchdown by the ’Bolts to grab a wild 35-34 victory and raise their record to 5-4.
The Cougars tied the score in OT on a busted play on their “Big Mac” package that resulted in junior tailback Kaiden Wray, who grabbed a bad snap and was about to get tackled at the Bolts’ 2-yard line, pitching the ball to junior offensive lineman Daijonn
