The U.S. Customs and Border Protection office in Marysville arrested eight people in Fort Gratiot who were allegedly in the U.S. illegally on Nov. 12.
According to a news release posted on Facebook by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Detroit Sector office, the eight individuals were from Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico.
The news release states four of the individuals arrested had criminal records, including one person who was wanted on a domestic violence charge and another for possession of a controlled substance. All eight individual are facing deportation.
A public information officer for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Station did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday morning on where the arrests were conducted or who were the eight individuals arrested.
