U.S. authorities have announced explosive new charges alleging fugitive Canadian ex-Olympic Ryan Wedding — labelled “a modern-day iteration of Pablo Escobar ” — organized the murder of an FBI witness in an assassination in Colombia that was first reported by the Star.

“He is responsible for engineering a narco trafficking and narco terrorism program that we have not seen in a long time,” FBI Director Kash Patel said at a massive news conference on Wednesday, also announcing that the reward for Wedding’s arrest has been raised to $15 million, from $10 million.

“He will not evade justice,” Patel said, calling Wedding “a modern-day iteration of Pablo Escobar, a modern-day iteration of Joaquín (El Chapo) Guzmán .”
