Bhubaneswar: A two-day national workshop on gender and social inclusion in disaster management began in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, aimed at strengthening governance and inclusive strategies in disaster risk reduction across India.
The workshop is being organised jointly by the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Senior officials from the National Disaster Management Authority, the Government of Odisha, OSDMA, and the United Nations Development Partnership Educational Institute attended the event.
Addressing the participants, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo lauded Odisha’s global recognition in disaster management, calling the state a role model for others.
