Parents under pressure to create 'perfect Christmas' find it hard to afford essentials
Parents are under pressure to create the 'perfect Christmas ' for their children, with many blaming lavish festive films like Home Alone. A study involving 1,200 parents found that 54% are struggling to afford Christmas this year.
Despite this, 78% believe their children expect a flawless Christmas due to the standards set by films, television and social media.
Many parents are cutting back on other expenses to fund the festivities, including essentials such as clothing (22%), groceries (18%) and heating and energy consumption (10%). Alarmingly, four in ten are spending beyond their means to meet these expectations.
The research was commissioned by Creditspring to mark the launch of 'Home A Loan'
