ROCHESTER, NY - A Michigan couple who operate a multi-state plumbing company are accused of generating $74 million in revenue by employing at least 140 undocumented immigrants, according to federal investigators.
Moises and Raquel Orduna-Rios, from Plymouth, were arrested and charged with the alleged conspiracy in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York, according to a criminal complaint that was unsealed Tuesday, Nov. 18.
The federal government alleges the couple staffed their company, Orduna Plumbing Inc., with undocumented workers. Orduna Plumbing operates in New York, Michigan, North Carolina and Ohio. The couple also took workers’ passports and housed them in overcrowded houses and hotel rooms, the complaint says.
