Held by ICE: Iowa man sues, family prays

MUSCATINE, Iowa (KWQC) - A Iowa man is suing the federal government for due process after being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Noel Jesus Lopez De La Cruz is a 24-year-old landscaper who came to the United States when he was only 2 years old. He played soccer and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School.

Despite being in the U.S. for over 20 years, De La Cruz is in the process of being deported to Mexico, a country he’s never known.

“He doesn’t know what happened before to and beyond,” said Brianna Thornton, his fiancé. “He grew up here, like all of his memories are here, his friends are here.”
