Democrats hold a huge advantage over Republicans if the midterm elections were held today, a new poll found.
The latest PBS News/NPR/Marist poll , released Wednesday, found that Democrats have a 14-point lead over Republicans among voters when asked which party they would support if the 2026 midterm elections were held today. The poll showed 55% of voters would support the Democratic candidate and 41% would support the Republican candidate.
PBS noted that this advantage is the largest lead since 2017 — a year before Democrats took back the House during President Donald Trump’s first term. This also represents a significant shift from November 2024, when voters were equally divided on which party they would support.
