PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon has reached a proposed $7 million settlement with Greystar Management Services LLC, the nation's largest landlord, in an antitrust lawsuit accusing the company of using algorithmic pricing tools to collude and raise rents.

Greystar manages nearly 950,000 rental units nationwide and is among the largest property management firms in the Portland metro area, with nearly 19,000 units, according to the Portland Business Journal .

The settlement stems from a U.S. Department of Justice lawsuit that first alleged RealPage, a property management software company, violated federal antitrust laws through an algorithm that recommends rents using price data supplied by landlords who use the service.
