OpenAI today rolled out a new version of ChatGPT built specifically for K–12 educators and is giving it to every verified U.S. teacher and school district for free through June 2027.
Called “ ChatGPT for Teachers ,” the platform adapts the company’s flagship AI tools for classroom needs, offering enhanced privacy, a secure workspace and features designed around the realities of lesson planning, curriculum design and student support.
OpenAI says the new version is meant to meet teachers where they already are. Educators are among the earliest adopters of AI technology. “Three in five already use an AI tool, and those that use it weekly report saving hours each week,” according to the company.
