Southern California snow lovers may want to head to head to the slopes early during this ski season, as forecasters predict that conditions could be significantly drier in the region after late January.
"I think the first part of the season looks pretty good," said Bill Wadell of AccuWeather. "We could have this kind of action all the way through the Thanksgiving, into the start of December. It's the second part of the season that I'm concerned about -- that it gets milder, it gets drier, and then we don't see as much activity in the Southern Sierras and east of L.A."
Mammoth Mountain was supposed to open for skiing and snowboarding last weekend but that was delayed. Now the ski resort is expected to open Thursday .
