Jam recalled over potentially harmful color additive

Mangalm LLC of Newark, California, is recalling all Tops Mixed Fruit Jam and Tops Strawberry Jam products because they contain carmoisine, an unapproved color additive that may pose health concerns, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration .

The affected products include:

Tops Mixed Fruit Jam (475g), batch #4F1101, best before Oct. 10, 2026.

Tops Strawberry Jam (475g), batch #4F1101, best before Oct. 10, 2026.

These jams were distributed to Utah, Portland, Washington and California. No illnesses have been confirmed to date.

The recall was initiated following an FDA inspection that determined the presence of carmoisine, which is not permitted for use in food products in the United States. Mangalm LLC has stopped distribution and instructed retailers to remove the products f
