Olivia Munn had to learn the hard way that sushi and bathwater don't mix.

During an appearance on the "Today" show Tuesday, Nov. 18, the award-winning actress, 45, recalled a stomach-churning food poisoning incident after Munn opted to eat sushi in the bathtub. The revelation was prompted after Munn and "Today" host Jenna Bush Hager watched an interview clip of singer Ariana Grande talking about her love of baths.

"One of the grossest things I've ever done in my life," Munn told Bush Hager. "I was working. I was really tired. This decision came from being exhausted. I'm staying in this hotel, the Shangri-La in Vancouver, and they have amazing sushi."

Strapped for time, Munn explained that she needed to both bathe and eat, so she placed the raw seafood dish next to the bathtub as she drew the bath. "I got busy and then I came back, and I was in the bath, and I started eating the sushi from the bath," she said.

The consequences were immediate for Munn, who shared that she came down with food poisoning the following day while she was at the airport. The actress, who was in a gift shop at the time, said she projectile vomited "into the trash can from afar."

"Sushi's not supposed to be heated by bath water for sure," said Munn with a laugh. "I hate myself for telling that story."

Despite the health emergency, Munn will never regret her bathtime relaxation.

"I love a bath. I need a bath," Munn said. "It's the quiet time. I just get to relax."
