A bill that would force the Justice Department to release all files related to its investigation into the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is on its way to President Donald Trump’s desk after it was passed by both chambers of Congress .
The measure sailed through the Senate on Wednesday after being voted through the House by a near-unanimous vote a day earlier, following a months-long battle that saw survivors of the convicted sex offender's abuse, all House Democrats, and a handful of Republicans join forces to oppose the President and most of his party, who lobbied to keep the files hidden.
Facing defeat, Trump reversed his long-held position at the last minute on Sunday and urged his party to vote in favor of releasing the files, "because we have nothing to hide."
