PITTSBURGH —
It has been more than a decade since the Pittsburgh Pirates handed out their largest free agent contract -- $39 million for Francisco Liriano in 2014.
ESPN reports that the Pirates are ready to loosen up the purse strings, saying the team is one of the suitors for slugger Kyle Schwarber -- and that they were about to offer double that record $39 million to Josh Naylor before the first baseman re-signed with the Seattle Mariners. Advertisement
Schwarber, 32, led the National League with 56 home runs and 132 RBI for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2025. This content is imported from Twitter. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.
