Hamilton Police know there is nothing they can do to bring back much loved Belinda Sarkodie Agyemang, an innocent woman murdered by a bullet last summer outside Jackson Square.

But they did vow to catch the alleged killer who shot the 26-year-old newcomer from Ghana. And Wednesday, they announced they did indeed do just that.

Officers say they were getting closer to capturing their 17-year-old suspect who had been on the run since July. Police managed to convince him to surrender.

“Belinda was killed on July 11, 2025, while spending time with a friend in the downtown core. She was tragically struck by a bullet intended for someone else,” said Hamilton Police. “On Nov. 18, 2025, the young person wanted in connection with Belinda’s murder turned himself into police.”
