After several years of not having quite enough talent and depth to make the playoffs, the Boston Red Sox front office made Alex Cora’s job significantly easier last season, giving him an ace (Garrett Crochet), an elite closer (Aroldis Chapman) and an All-Star third baseman (Alex Bregman).
Cora responded by guiding the Red Sox to their first postseason appearance in four years. It was too short in his view, however, as Boston only played three playoff games before getting eliminated by the New York Yankees in the Wild Card Round.
The Red Sox’s goal is to go deeper in the postseason next year and compete for a World Series, and Cora wants the front office to stay aggressive this winter.
