U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville said Tuesday he opposes the provision enabling him and seven other Republican senators to sue the federal government over their phone records being seized in the Jan. 6 investigation.
Tuberville’s comments Tuesday night on Newsmax came a week after Alabama’s senior senator said he would “sue the living hell” out of Biden administration officials if former special counsel Jack Smith isn’t arrested and Judge James Boasberg isn’t impeached for their roles in the investigation.
The provision, tucked into a spending bill that helped avert the longest federal shutdown in history, allows Tuberville and the other senators to sue the federal government for $500,000 apiece on each claim that they were not notified that their records were accessed.
