There are only a couple of days left to pick up a favorite soup or fresh loaf of bread from Breadworks Bakery and Cafe in Boulder, which will permanently close at the end of the business day on Saturday, after providing fresh bread to Boulder residents for more than 30 years.
Owner and founder Larry Domnitz said the closure is due to a variety of factors. The rising cost of rent and ingredients, along with business disruptions such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the loss of a large wholesale customer due to a business decision, contributed to his decision to close the bakery.
“This is nobody’s fault, it’s just how things go,” Domnitz said.
Breadworks, at 2644 Broadway, opened on Valentine’s Day in 1995 and started out selling only bread, breakfast pastries and coffee. Every morning, Domni
