Speaking to the media after the arrest of the website’s administrator, he disclosed that a member of his family had fallen victim to a sophisticated online fraud months earlier.

Authorities have been warning about a rising pattern of scams where callers pose as police or government officials, forcing victims into what is described as a “digital arrest".
