LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 17-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash in southwest Lincoln on Tuesday.

Just before 2:45 p.m., Lincoln Police and Lincoln Fire & Rescue were sent to the intersection of Southwest 23rd Street and South Street.

Investigators said a red 2011 Buick Enclave — driven by a 69-year-old Lincoln woman — was on SW 23rd Street preparing to turn left when she heard a motorcycle speeding.

According to LPD, she started to turn left when she saw the motorcycle’s headlight crest the hill.

LPD said the woman stopped the SUV, and the 17-year-old rider laid down his blue 2019 Yamaha bike.

He slid more than 100 feet and collided with the driver’s side door of the SUV, according to LPD.

LPD said the bike slid nearly 400 feet before coming to a stop.
